Citroën is adding a new, smaller, plug-in hybrid option to its C5 Aircross, writes Brian Byrne.
It's based on a 150hp petrol engine with an electric engine that brings the total output to 180hp.
The new unit, which complements the existing 225hp PHEV powertrain, offers electric-only motoring up to 64km.
The company has also uprated the 225hp PHEV unit in the new C5 X to provide up to 64km driving in electric mode. The range improvements are due to improved battery management software.
