WhatsApp New Feature Released, Admins can delete group members messages

WhatsApp's new feature, admins can delete group members messages

WhatsApp, the most popular social networking application, is reportedly working on a new feature to allow admins to delete messages from any user in the group.

WhatsApp is said to be developing a moderate feature that is already available on rival messaging service Telegram, which also allows admins to delete group members' messages.

WhatsApp has not yet officially announced the details of any such feature.

According to a screenshot shared by WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, the messaging service owned by Meta is working on a feature to allow group admins to delete messages from any group member.

Deleted messages can be replaced with a placeholder message, informing the user that the message has been deleted by the admin.

WhatsApp's rival Telegram allows group admins to delete any user's messages but does not display placeholder messages.

Future ability to delete messages could serve as a powerful moderation tool in WhatsApp groups, especially to prevent incidents of fake news or malicious content on the messaging service.

However, there is no specification as to whether group admins will be able to delete old messages in the group.

Users can currently delete their messages in chats or groups within one hour, eight minutes, and 16 seconds.

However, WhatsApp may increase the threshold for group admins to delete messages in the group, allowing them to deal with older messages posted by users in the group.
