Why National Testing Agency Is Important

The National Testing Agency was introduced to streamline the entire testing process and relieve academic institutions of the burden of preparing test questions. The agency is a part of the Central Board for Secondary Education, which manages the educational process of primary to secondary levels in India. The board continuously improves the curriculum, introduces best practices, and conducts board exams in a smooth manner. By using this agency, the Board ensures that students get the best education possible.

The NTA was registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and has a board of governors that will discharge its duties in an ethical manner. It will conduct entrance examinations twice a year and have an independent and professional staff. The agency is the representative of educational institutions, including CBSE, UGC, NCERT, AICTE, and the ministry of HRD. The NTA will have a team of education administrators, researchers, experts, and assessment developers. The assessment results will be used to enhance the equity of Indian society and ensure that merit prevails in all selections. The task force will be headed by the Director General, who will be appointed by the Government.

The NTA is a government agency that administers entrance examinations for higher education. The agency was approved by the Union Council of Ministers and was established in November 2017. The agency administers four major entrance tests - Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE), National Eligibility Test - Undergraduate (NEET UG), Common Management Admission Test (CAT), Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test, and Common Management Admission Test. The NTA was funded by the Union Cabinet, and Vineet Joshi was named its first Director General.
