Job Description


​This job is a member of the Engineering Team within the Integrated Operations Division.
​The TEQ Cooperative Education Program (Co-op) is American Airlines (AA) partnering with universities to provide a structured method of combining classroom-based education with practical work experience. This program provides students with an immersion experience as an engineer or aviation management technician and provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate capabilities to AA.



Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:




Duties and Responsibilities





  • cts as entry level employees within their assigned department, providing basic technical evaluation of outstanding issues


  • Supports Engineering Staff to the group in which they’re assigned, assisting in major modification programs, maintenance task evaluations, or similar large engineering efforts


  • Individual roles will vary depending on which department the student is assigned. Co-ops will be assigned within the Training, Engineering and Quality (TEQ) organization. Engineering students will be placed in one of 2 areas; Powerplant or Aircraft. Aviation Management students will be placed in one of 3 areas; Quality Control/CASS, Publications or Configuration Management and Control


  • Follows established procedures / workflows for task execution and approvals


  • Interfaces with multiple computer programs or software to manage daily work and task execution









Job Requirements




  • ​Require current enrollment in an undergraduate Engineering or Aviation Management degree program. Engineering majors considered include: Aeronautical/Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Computer/Technical Engineering. Aviation Management majors considered include: Aviation Management, Aerospace Administration & Operations, Aerospace Logistics, Technical Services Management, Professional Pilot, Aircraft Maintenance Management, Air Traffic Management


  • Minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 2.5


  • Active participation in their college/university’s Cooperative Education Program, if such a program exists


  • Must be very proficient with Microsoft Office Suite


  • Must be able to work independently, without day-to-day supervision


  • Must be articulate and able to express technical issues and concepts in clear and concise manner


  • Ability to work with the suppliers and AA personnel in a professional manner


  • Ability to handle multiple work assignments


  • Preferred Qualifications



  • Students that have availability for 2-3 work cycles (or at least 3 semesters)


  • Successful completion of sophomore year or approximately 60 hours towards a Bachelor Degree is preferred.


  • Eligibility to work in the United States witout visa sponsorship


  • A&P Certification


  • Airline/passenger aircraft experience
