 One in custody, one injured in shooting at Wildhorse Resort & Casino. MISSION — Wildhorse Resort & Casino near Pendleton is the scene of a shootout Wednesday, Aug. 17, that has resulted in a gunshot wound to a bystander and the apprehension of a suspect.


The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation issued a statement at about 2 p.m. confirming the shooting.


According to the statement, there was an armed gunman at Wildhorse Casino & Resort. Police intercepted him at the door and a shootout ensued with the police.



“The suspect is in custody,” according to the statement. “A bystander was shot and their condition is unknown.”


CTUIR also reported approximately 20 police were on site from Umatilla Tribal Police, FBI, Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office and Pendleton Police Department.


“We are asking the public to please stay away from the casino & resort area at this time while officials continue to evaluate the situation and conduct their investigation,” CTUIR stated. “More details are forthcoming. Please standby.”
