Who was Technoblade?
Technoblade, also known as just Techno, was a 23-year-old American YouTuber known for his Minecraft content. His real name is Alex, but we didn’t know that until after his death.
He has 10.7 million subscribers on YouTube where his bio reads: “I play video games too much. I might not be the best, but I do have hot elbows.”
The YouTuber from San Francisco never did an official face reveal and usually hid behind a Pighead mask, but he did show his appearance briefly in a number of videos over the years.
He also has 862,000 followers on Twitch and regularly collaborated with other YouTubers and streamers as well as having a rivalry with fellow gaming streamer Dream.
The Internet personality had three younger sisters and a brother who sometimes appeared in his videos as well as a dog called Floof.
He revealed he had cancer in August 2021
Alex, who lived with his father as his parents were divorced, announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer in August 2021.
In a video titled “where I’ve been,” he revealed that he has recently noticed that his right arm was hurting a lot and assumed it must be from playing videos.
“I took a few days resting my arm and it really didn’t feel any better,” he continued before adding that he noticed his right shoulder was “swelling” and assumed he’d broken a bone.
“They ran a couple of scans and they told me the reason that my arm hurts is because I have cancer,” he said before adding that he feels a bit “silly” speaking about such a serious topic whilst playing Minecraft.
Technoblade went on to say that after the scans came in, he got transferred to another hospital where he had more scans and a biopsy before going on to have chemotherapy.
Technoblade has passed away after his battle with cancer, his father delivered a final message on his behalf today.
