Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) is an American multinational semiconductor company based in Santa Clara, California, that develops computer processors and related technologies for business and consumer markets. While it initially manufactured its processors, the company later outsourced its manufacturing, a practice known as going fabless, after Global Foundries was spun off in 2009. AMD's main products include microprocessors, motherboard chipsets, embedded processors, and graphics processors for servers, workstations, personal computers, and embedded system applications.

Nowadays AMD becoming popular and growing their products with more power and more efficiency at a very low cost, and creating an opportunity for the customer to choose between two Intel vs. AMD in the CPU section and Nvidia vs. AMD/ATI in the GPU section.
Most likely, they are making more money on the selection of CPU making process within the same socket vastly using AM4 socket. Also, AMD's most processor is unlocked and overclocking capable.
By buying the best motherboard you can use any of their processors simply by updating the BIOS, the list of the motherboard and the capability is below.
the above two tables are the motherboard list and its processor compatibility. So what should you choose for your computer lets discuss it?
The good and bad part of AMD Based Motherboard
- Advantage: AMD's main purpose of the CPU making process is AM4 Socket based processor so that the processor can work on the new board and similarly to the old one. For this purpose, the motherboard manufacturer added more features on an AMD-based motherboard within a very low budget, and within the higher budget, you can get a lot of features on the same board and within a future proof facility from AMD.
- Disadvantage: For this purpose to use the same socket to all motherboards, the motherboard's chipset is having some issues with using a too old or brand new processor, though the processor's support on the motherboard there is some incompatibility exists on the system.
- Comparing with Intel: If you compare Intel's motherboards vs AMD's motherboards there is a difference between motherboard chipset, Intel always change their CPU socket within the motherboard chipset so that the chipset and processor can work batter with each other. It's good for the performance compared with AMD's chipset solution. Though you can't use another processor to the intel motherboard there is no confusion on the choice of motherboard comparing with AMD AM4 different chipset motherboard.
- What should you do? Before you think about the motherboard you should think about the processor first, then you can choose the motherboard according to your processor choice. If you are thinking about upgrading your PC in the future then you should choose the latest motherboard chipset though you are using an old processor now, if you need a fixed motherboard within the processor then select the motherboard which is similarly released within someday later with the processor to get the best performance.
