Instagram Reels, using it people can record and edit 15-second multi-clip videos just like TikTok
Instagram which is owned by Facebook has launched its TikTok-like platform in India called Instagram Reels for a long time in a few countries including Brazil, Germany, and France. The platform has been launched as part of the Instagram app only and doesn’t require users to download a separate app. This time is best to bring Reels to India as the government put a ban on TikTok. The Feed if you’re posted Reels will appear in the Reels tab on your Instagram profile. The ones that you post in Stories will disappear in 24 hours and won’t appear on your profile. It also allows adding filters and creating videos with the AR effect to add a custom touch to the videos. Similarly, like TikTok, Reels has an option of speed and timer to create slow-motion videos and more.
How To Create Instagram Reels
Here’s a step by step guide if you want to try out the new Reels feature of Instagram and create TikTok style videos:
- Open the Google Play Store or App Store and check if a new update is available. If yes, then install the update.
- Open Instagram
- Tap on the camera on the top left corner of the app or you can swipe left
- You will see 3 options at the bottom of the app Live, Story & Reels
- Click on the Reels option
- When the Reels feature is on your screen, you can do a variety of things such as record videos with audio, filters, change the speed of the video, select time limit, and more
- Press on the White circular icon at the bottom of your screen with a clapboard icon on it, to start recording videos.
- Tap on the music icon to add audio
- Tap on the smiley icon to add effects to the video. It gives you a large variety of filters to choose from
- You can adjust the speed of the video by tapping on the fast forward icon choosing between 0.3x to 3x speed
- You can choose how long your video clip must be. Right from 0.1 seconds to 15 seconds, you can choose duration as per your choice
- Swipe up to add a video stored in your phone, photos are not supported on Reels yet
