Jada Pinkett Smith hopes Will Smith and Chris Rock reconcile, 1 minute read
Los Angeles, US, June 1 (EFE).- Actress Jada Pinkett Smith hopes that her husband Will Smith and comedian Chris Rock have an opportunity to heal and reconcile more than two months after the Oscars slap incident.
At the Academy Awards in March, Will Smith walked onto the stage in the middle of the ceremony and slapped presenter Chris Rock after he joked about the close-cropped haircut of Pinkett Smith who suffers from alopecia that causes hair loss.
“My deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out, and reconcile,” she said on her Facebook Watch show, Red Table Talk.
“The state of the world today, we need them both, and we all actually need one another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and that’s keep figuring out this thing called life together.”
Pinkett Smith had the mother of 12-year-old Rio Allred, who committed suicide after being bullied for having alopecia, as her guest in the latest episode of the talk show.
“This is a really important ‘Red Table Talk’ on alopecia. Considering what I have been through and what happened at the Oscars, thousands have reached out to me with their stories,” Pinkett Smith said.
“I am using this moment to give our alopecia family an opportunity to talk about what it is like to have this condition and to inform people about what alopecia actually is.”
Chris Rock has not commented publicly on the incident yet, not even after Smith apologized and resigned from the Hollywood Academy membership.
Will Smith, who won the award for the best lead actor in the same edition of the Oscars, was suspended by the institution for the next decade. EFE
