Job Description



The majority of Delta's capital investment is on aircraft acquisitions and aircraft modifications. Fleet configuration decisions affect all parts of Delta and involve engagement from key planning groups within the company. The Summer Intern - Fleet Initiatives will be a part of Delta’s Fleet Strategy team and will help drive the development and analysis of fleet related investments that optimize financial, operational and customer objectives to maximize Delta's return on aircraft investments. Such initiatives include reconfiguration of current fleets as well as reducing aircraft weight.


Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:





Duties and Responsibilities




  • Work with stakeholders across the company to drive strategic fleet initiatives and present findings in concise, clear, and actionable terms.


  • Serve as a regular contributor to cross-functional working groups regarding fleet activities.


  • Support business case development and analysis to support commercial and operational fleet initiatives such as cabin enhancements, connectivity, and fuel efficiency improvements.


  • Help prepare and compile materials across multiple divisions for the monthly Fleet Subcommittee meeting, a cross-divisional discussion regarding fleet configuration, modification, and investment decisions.


  • Consistently demonstrate Delta's core values as outlined in Rules of the Road.


  • Practice safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.









Job Requirements




  • Currently enrolled in a 2 or 4 year university


  • The most competitive candidate will have experience working and/or leading cross-functional teams. The candidate will also have prior experience and a desire to build on their financial, analytical, and modeling skills to assess the many trade-offs that are typically involved in driving fleet decisions. The successful candidate will also exhibit high energy, will have a strong collaborative spirit and solid communication skills to support initiatives cross-divisionally.

  • High School diploma, GED or High School Equivalency


  • Must have the ability to work well with others in a time sensitive and team environment that is results oriented.


  • Ability to work in MS Excel to build analyses and MS PowerPoint to build presentations.


  • Business case development, project management, or team leadership experience preferred.


  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.
