Movie Review of Why Cheat India by Soumik Sen
This movie is a satire on the social ills of our country, based on the real life experiences of a conman, Rakesh Singh. The film follows the young man around the country, aiming to teach them to cheat in exams. The film is not particularly impressive - it lacks tonal clarity and has a few jarring cliches. Even the lead actor, a talented man, is underdeveloped and lacks much luster.
Despite the impressive cast, Why Cheat India is still a largely insensible two-hour drama. Soumik Sen manages to tread a fine line between an excellent film and an incomprehensible plot. The story is a simple one: a bespectacled scam artist uses political influence to help poor students get into expensive colleges, and what happens when those same bright students try to get in? It's an interesting premise, but it's a flawed one.
The premise of the film is intriguing. Its main character is a successful engineer, and his exploits are detailed. It shows the mindset that enables this individual to be so successful. It's this same mindset that keeps the average Indian dreaming of being an engineer, doctor, or IAS. The result is an insensible film. You'll want to see it if you're interested in this topic, but this movie will never deliver.
While Why Cheat India opens with a believable shot of Jaunpur and a wholesome, middle class family, the story fails to take this idea forward. It does not examine the underlying causes of the gender inequality in society, and instead relies on the common mindset of middle class and upper class Indians. Soumik Sen has a promising future, but he needs to make a better movie.
The satire on the education system in India is a great idea, but the film's climax is a little over the top. The movie's opening sequence looks like a conversation between two people and a sermon, and it also features a scene where the judge takes forty winks. But this isn't a film for the masses, nor is it a great political commentary. The climax of the film is the tense conclusion that the film reaches, and the end result is a wretched disappointment.
Unlike GULAAB GANG, Soumik Sen's film Why Cheat India is more focused on examining the underlying issues of our education system. It is a sad commentary on the prevailing educational system and the corrupting effect that the commercialization of education has on young people in the country. The story is well-paced and the characters are relatable. Soumik's narration is free and engaging, and his characters are convincing and believable.
The story's central theme is the exploitation of the Indian education system. The movie is about the greedy mindset of Indians who are forced to work long hours to get a decent job. While the film isn't particularly funny, it does have a moral stance. The narrator's motivation is based on the fact that his actions have consequences. He is attempting to gain power over the government, which in turn has a negative impact on the lives of many young people in India.
The movie focuses on the problems in the educational system in India. While the film's main character, Rakesh, has the requisite talent to become an engineering professor, he teaches the students how to cheat in the exam. The story, however, is a rambling, two-hour film. Although it tries to make its audience feel engaged, it ends up a mediocre film.
The movie aims to raise awareness about the ills of the Indian education system. Rakesh Singh demonstrates these fraudulent practices in the film. The film also explores the mindset that causes average Indians to dream of becoming doctors, engineers and IAS. In short, Why Cheat India by Soumik Sen is a worthy watch. The title is deceptive and should be avoided.
