The Samtrygd is a local brannforsikringsselskap. The Land Gjensidige Brandkasse was founded in 1816, and in 1922 it became a reassuranselskap for 260 brannkassers. The Samtrygd was formed in 1958, and in cooperation with Norges Automobil-Forbund and Norges Bondelag, it has since become an independent entity.

After a period of time, Samtrygd was granted the approval to offer all kinds of insurance products. Its primary purpose was to re-insure mutual fire insurers in Norway. In 1974, it took over Norsk Bilforsikring Gjensidige. In 1984, the name was changed to Gjensidige Skadeforsikring, which means damage insurance in Norwegian. In 1985, it merged with Gjensidige Liv to form a new organization with the same name.

In 1958, Samtrygd won approval to offer all types of insurance products, including auto insurance. In 1974, it took over Norsk Bilforsikring Gjensidige, and changed its name to Gjensidige Skadeforsikring. The name translates to "damage insurance" in Norwegian. Today, Samtrygd is one of the largest property and casualty insurers in Norway.

After Samtrygd was created, it was mandated to re-insure mutual fire insurers in Norway. In 1974, Samtrygd acquired the auto insurer Norsk Bilforsidige Skadeforsikring. In 1989, Samtrygd merged with Gjensidige Liv.

Until November 1937, Henningsen was a board member of Samtrygd, Norsk Gjensidigidige Forsikrings Forening (NGF) from 1922 to 1935. Henningsen also served as secretary of the Oslo Handelsstands Forening and Norske Gjensidige Forsisidige Forsikrings Landsforening.

In the year 1957, Samtrygd won approval to offer all kinds of insurance products, including car and home insurance. The company was initially mandated to re-insure mutual fire insurers. However, it grew by taking over the auto insurer Norsk Bilforsidige Ingestygd samarbeid with the Norges Automobile-Forbund.

In 1922, Samtrygd Norsk Gjendidige Forsikrings Forening was founded as a reinsurance company. It later developed various types of general insurance and shared its manager with Norsk Bilforsikringsforening. In 1974, the two companies merged. In 1976, Gjensidige Forsykringsforening became the sole owner of Samtrygd.

In addition to reassurances for bygdebrannkassens, Samtrygd also provided forsikrings in other bransjers. Its name derives from its responsibilities as a reassuranseselskap for bygdebrannkassen. The forsikringsforening was established in 1921. In 1955, Samvirke Skadeforsikring A/S was created.

In 1905, the Samtrygd forsikringsforening was founded by Steinkjer. The company was established in Oslo. Its founder was Arne Bondde. It was incorporated in 1972 and became a member of the National Union of Forsikringsforening in Norway. In that year, it published a book called "Feier-Mathis ogjensidiggesjeler" which was a bestseller.

The Samtrygd Norsk Gjendige Forsikringsforening was established in 1986, but did not have a local headquarters in Forde. It was the first forsikringsforening in Norway, and it still exists. Its aims are to provide safety and security to the people of the country.

The Samtrygd Norsk Gjense Forsikringsforening is a Norwegian insurance group that was founded in 1875. Its members include the Icelandic Government, the Norwegian Government, and the government of Norway. The forsikrings forening was incorporated in the mid-19th century. The Norwegian authorities acquired the forsikringsforening in 1993, and by 1995, it had merged with Sparebanken NOR. In 2002, DnB also merged with Postbanken and its global asset management operations with Skandia, adding NOK 245 billion to DnB.

The Samtrygd Norsk Gjentidige NOR is an insurance association with a long history. It was founded in 1999, and is headquartered in Oslo. The forsikringsforening was created by Jens Colstrup. In 1792, the Swedish forsidige forsikringsforening purchased the forsikrings for 347 million.

The merger between Samtrygd Norsk and DnB was announced in March. It was agreed that the two companies would merge until the end of the century. The merger was approved for a total of NOK 18.3 billion and Eur 2.33 billion. It was worth $2.46 billion and Eur.2, and the merger was completed in September 2017.
