Mary Elizabeth "Sissy" Biography Profile Updated

Mary Elizabeth "Sissy" Spacek is an American actress and singer. She has received several awards and accolades for her roles. She has been nominated for an Academy Award, three Golden Globe Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a BAFTA award. She has also been nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards and four British Academy Film Festival Awards. Despite her numerous accomplishments, she still maintains a modest profile and remains relatively unknown, but she does have an extensive resume.

Spacek's earliest acting roles were in musicals. In her early years, she worked as a photographer, modeling for Ford Models, and as a model. She appeared in an uncredited role in Andy Warhol's film Trash. In the 1970s, Spacek began acting, appearing in such films as Welcome to L.A., 3 Women, and Coal Miner's Daughter. She later acted in "Missing" and "Raggedy Man," winning a Grammy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Initially, Spacek pursued a singing career, and her first single, "John You Went Too Far This Time," was a flop. She had been targeted by record labels because her lyrics criticized John Lennon's nude album cover, which led to her disbanding from the record label. She subsequently turned her attention to acting, enrolling in the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. While attending school, she also worked as a photographic model, and subsequently, an extra at Andy Warhol's Factory.
