How to use Punctuation?

What is a Full Stop?

At the end of any simple

or Assertive sentence

 full stop(.) is inducted.

Example:

He sleeps at ten.

                    

What is a comma(,)?

To seperate many things or

persons in one sentence comma

(,) is inducted.

Example:

Ayesha,Tehmina,Salma

and Arooj are brilliant students

of this class.

What are quotation marks

or Inverted Commas("--")

Direct Speech of any person is

always written in Inverted Commas.

Example:

Aslam said,"He is learning

his lesson."

What is a colon(:)?

A colon is used in two complete

 sentences,when second sentence

is explaining first sentence

Example:

He eats apples:which are beneficial

for health

Where apostrophe(') is used?

i)To contract the word.

like:   I am= I'm

          I would= I'd

ii)To show the possession of

Where apostrophe(') is used?

animate things.

Where we can use question mark (?)?

It is used at the end of any sentence

in which a question is asked.

It is used in the end of every

sentence that expresses sudden

 feelings and emotions.

Example:

How beautiful you are!

May he live long!

What is a Hyphen (-)?

It is used in compound words

, compound adjectives and to break

the word at the end of  line.

Example:

i. Book-shop

ii.Broken -hearted

iii.she is an attract-

ive girl
