1.      How has the scientific method helped us in our fight against diseases?
Answer:
The scientific method has helped us to know the causes, prevention and treatment of the diseases which were incurable in past.
2.      Write a note on the better sanitary conditions available in our cities today and compare them with what they were like a hundred years ago?
Answer:
In past rubbish and garbage was thrown openly into the streets. The streets were full of garbage. But now the streets are paved and clean. In the modern cities sewerage system is good. Pure drinking water is easily available.

3.      What are the sanitary conditions like in our villages today and how would you improve them?
Answer:
            The sanitary conditions in our villages are very bad. The streets are full of stagnant water and heaps of rubbish. Pure drinking water is not available. We can improve them by using the scientific methods.
4.      How has the scientific methods helped us in the production and preservation of foods?
Answer:
In the past, people could enjoy the foods only in the growing season. Food could not be preserved for long time and overall the production of the food was limited. But now using the scientific methods the production of the food has increased and it can be preserved for a long time.
5.      We are now generally less fearful than our forefathers. What were our ancestors afraid of?
Answer:
We are less fearful than our ancestors because with the help of science we have overcome superstitions and fatal diseases. Our grandparents were afraid of black cats, no.13 and broken mirror.

6.      What part did astrology play in the lives of the men and women in the past? Give examples?
Answer:
In past people believed that their lives were controlled by the movements of the stars. They believed in the signs of good as well as bad luck.
 The kings even used to consult with astrologers.

7.      Describe some of the superstitions still current in our country. How do they affect the lives of those who believe in them?
Answer:

There are some superstitions that still exist in our country due to lack of education. People still believe that their lives are influenced by the movements of the stars. People still are afraid of black cats, no.13 and broken mirror. The science tells us that there is a solid cause of every happening.
